The past few weeks there has been increased promotion of Batman: Arkham Asylum such as the ads in Home. So it was a shock to see that it was delayed without much reason.
One reason for the delay might be that the blockbuster movie The Dark Knight might be bundled on the [shal]Blu-Ray[/shal] disc along with Arkham Asylum. While it still is only speculation, there is some proof that features like this are being planned for PS3 games.
John Koller, Director of Hardware Marketing for SCEA said recently:
“We are actively pushing, and the way that we see the future is that the movie and the game are placed on the same disc,”
“There are a lot of developers who say, we have this game based on a movie, wouldn’t it be great to marry these concepts? We will definitely see this stuff this year”
This would be an excellent way to promote the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player to all of the folks that don’t realize that it plays the High Definition movie format (can you believe some still don’t know?), as well as a great way to increase the perceived value of the purchase. E3 is right around the corner, and we have scheduled some hands on time with Arkham Asylum along with a chat with the developers, so we will be sure to question this juicy piece of info.
