Japanese market researcher Net-Asia conducted a gaming survey that resulted in very interesting findings. The poll was aimed at both Japanese men and women between the ages of 10 and 40, who were still active gamers and owned a game console (not handheld).
In contrast to Wii owners, 78% of whom prefer playing with family members, 77% of PS3 owners preferred playing alone. And while Wii owners tend to prefer RPGs, which is odd considering how few RPGs are actually on the Wii, PS3 owners prefer action games.
And when asked about why they owned their respective consoles, 81% responded that it was for the games, with 66% claiming the graphical prowess of the system is what attracted them in the first place. Blu-ray also had a significant influence. The Xbox 360 wasn’t included in this survey, but you can guess why.
