Rage is id Software‘s latest game which was formerly codenamed Tech 5. John Carmack himself is working quite closely with this title. Initial reports were that Xbox 360 version would be gimped in some fashion in order to publish the game on four DVDs. The PlayStation 3‘s Blu-Ray drive has more then enough room for this ambitious title.
Recently John was on record stating the PS3 version was not up to par and was only pulling half the framerate that the Xbox 360 version was. To most this may seem like flame bait, but it’s obvious Xbox 360 was the lead development platform and the team is not quite finished optimizing the PS3 version.
Recent updates from John himself seem to confirm this.
“Everything is designed as a 60 hertz game. We expect this to be 60 hertz on every supported platform. The work remaining is getting it locked so there’s never a dropped frame or a tear, but we’re confident that we’re going to get that.”
