Speaking in their latest developer diary, Codemasters is ensuring that F1 2010, strikes a fine balance between realism and being fun. Multiple members of the development team talked about how hard it is to please both hardcore fans of the sport and more laid-back gamers, while trying to find a balance for the gameplay, that would please both the hardcore and casual segments of their audience.
Codemasters objective, first and foremost, is to make the game truly authentic. Stephen Hood, the Chief Game Designer, cites that it is easier to make an authentic game, then ‘arcade it’; rather than make an accessible, arcade game, then trying to make it authentic.
