For weeks we’ve been covering the SpartansStandTall.com website that was revealed by unlocking a Platinum Trophy in God of War III. Speculation ran wild among rabid God of War fans who desperately yearned for more blood and gore that only Kratos could provide.
Now, Sony has revealed what the SpartansStandTall website has been teasing about: God of War: Ghost of Sparta, coming to the PSP later this year.
Being developed by Ready at Dawn studios, the team behind the critically acclaimed God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, picks up right where the first God of War game left off, telling the story of Kratos’ ascension into power as the God of War.
In God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Kratos will embark on a journey to rid himself of the nightmares that plague his mind, and answer many questions about his dark past, including what really happened to his family, his scar, and how Kratos received his nickname, The Ghost of Sparta.
Following this announcement SCEA’s VP of Product Marketing, Scott A. Steinberg said:
“Excitement for the God of War franchise is at an all-time high and we’re thrilled to continue that momentum with God of War: Ghost of Sparta,”
“This new adventure will showcase Kratos on PSP like never before in an experience that fans and newcomers can enjoy on the go, anytime, anywhere.”
According to Sony, God of War: Ghost of Sparta will feature “25% more gameplay” than its predecessor, Chains of Olympus, which was also developed by Ready at Dawn Studios. The game will feature “state-of-the-art visual technologies” which allows for “higher quality environments and characters”. This all equates to bigger, badder boss fights, more epic levels, and overall more Kratos’ badassery.
God of War: Ghost of Sparta is due sometime later in 2010. We’ve been told to expect more details at E3 which is just a few weeks away on June 15-17 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
