Have you often wondered why the PS3 lacks a great variety of JRPGs? Let me explain one reason for you. The PSP rules the roost in Japan, meaning most developers create JRPGs for it because A.) They’re almost guaranteed good sales and B.) They don’t have to spend double-digit millions to develop them. This is one reason why the PSP is so highly respected among JRPG fans worldwide because the ‘little system that could’ has more titles than you can count on your fingers and toes. Thanks to XSeed, a whopping 6 more JRPGs will be hitting the PlayStation Portable this year and we have all the juicy details you need to know for massive amount of questing you can get yourself into.
Thanks to the partnership between XSeed and Nihon Falcom, 6 titles from the Y’s and The Legend of Heroes franchise will be arriving in America.
Ys I and II Chronicles is a remake of the first two original games, which was also released a Turbografx CD compilation the 90’s.
Next there’s Ys: The Oath of Felghana, which is a remake of Ys III: Wanderers from Ys.
Ys Seven is the newest entry in the series and it fully utilizes the power of the PSP. It promises 30+ hours of gameplay and a combat system which features a three-party member with real-time battles.
The three Legend of Heroes title will be from the three newest games in the series and have been known as the ‘Trails in the Sky’ trilogy in Japan.
XSeed Games president and founder Jun Iwasaki, was ecstatic about the partnership and giving US fans the chance to enjoy both series.
I couldn’t be more pleased to announce a partnership with a development studio as renown by gamers for consistently putting out quality titles as Falcom. Their titles have always been some of the most requested titles so it is going to be our pleasure to oblige the North American fans by delivering an amazing line up of in-depth and gripping RPGs.
The first title to be released due to this new relationship will be Ys Seven, which hits later this Summer. Once some solid release dates are given for the other 5 titles, we’ll make sure to let you know.
