DJ Hero 2 Aims to be Ultimate Party Starter

After quite an impressive press conference this week, Activision is letting loose some new DJ Hero 2 trailers, screenshots and details. Last year’s top contender in the video game music genre is back, and it’s looking better than ever.

It’s no secret, we really loved the original DJ Hero. The game had great visuals that really captured the club scene, awesome gameplay, and more importantly, phenomenal music. There were mixes that many may have initially thought to be impossible like David Bowie and 50 cent, but FreeStyle Games proved us wrong. Now we approach DJ Hero 2 with high expectations and things are looking good.

The music selection in DJ Hero is looking to take the series to new heights, with mixes brought to you by hit artists like Dr Dre, Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, Metallica, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna. They’ve even gone a step further and brought in underground hit makers like Deadmau5 to mix some tunes, you can even play as their peppy mascot! The inclusion of actual DJs in last year’s DJ Hero was an awesome choice and this next iteration it looking to keep that tradition alive.

Activision and FreeStyle games have also shown that they will be including the ability to cross-fade back and forth with playing with two turn tables which is really something. And for those wishing they could join in on the fun, but aren’t particularly turntable savvy, there is now the option to pop in a microphone and sing your heart out while your friends mix the tracks. DJ Hero 2 really is looking to take the crown as party game of the year, and if they can continue to produce good mixes with engaging gameplay, they just might succeed. Although they’ll definitely be facing some stiff competition from Rockband 3 and the all-new DJ-inspired Scratch, DJ Hero 2 is the only DJ/Dance game on the market right now and that’s working in their favor.
