In a recent interview with IGN, legendary NFL coach and commentator, John Madden, talks all about his highly acclaimed football series and reveals some things that you may not have known. Football and non football fans alike can both find enjoyment and wisdom in his words, which can be found below.
Although it hasn’t been clockwork, athletes that have graced the cover often find themselves having a bad or injury-riddled season. This has become the “Madden Curse”. Asked if he believes in the curse, Madden had this to say:
“No, I don’t. I don’t believe in those things, and I don’t think that most players believe in them. Obviously, we have Drew Brees on the cover this year and he didn’t believe it. Troy Palamalu, Larry Fitzgerald last year, they didn’t believe it. So the players are still on the cover and I don’t think there’s anything to it. Before we started putting players on the cover, I was on the cover, so if I believed in it I probably wouldn’t have wanted myself on the cover.”
If you were John Madden, one of the most widely known figures connected with football, what team would you choose, when playing a quick game? Look below, to see what he had to say:
“The Colts because of Peyton Manning. I mean, if the Colts are going to move the ball offensively, they’re not a big mixture team with a run and pass. It’s going to be dominant pass, dominant shotgun – those types of things. You know that they’re going to throw the ball and you know that Peyton throws it better than anyone else. “
It certainly is interesting to gain a little bit of insight into the mind of John Madden. The newest entry into the long-standing Madden franchise, Madden 11, hits retailers August 10th.
