The Force is Still Strong with The Force Unleashed III

Since taking over as president over at LucasArts in June, Paul Meegan has been at the center of many major shakeups that have affected the company. Projects have been canceled, developers let go, and the biggest shock of all, the chance that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed III may never see the light of day.

With The Force Unleashed II arriving at the end of this month, fans can’t be happy to hear that StarKiller’s story could go unfinished. Have faith, my young Padawan – LucasArts has finally commented on the matter and the force is still strong for a third chapter.

Julio Torres, Project Lead for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, talked to SciFiNow Magazine about the cancellation of a third installment rumors… and quickly shot them down.

“Well I can’t tell you how the game ends because that would ruin it for you, but I can tell you that the timeframe for The Force Unleashed and TFU II is about a year, and there’s still, between that and Episode IV, a couple of years for us to play with. So that means no matter how the game ends for Starkiller and Vader for TFU II, we still have some time to figure out how we solidify the canon so that everything makes sense for IV.Obviously, if that were to be exposed, it would most likely be a TFU III. I’m just afraid I can’t share what that could be yet because we’re still figuring it out. I cautioned that…the key is that, that time is still left.”

The original Force Unleashed is the fastest-selling Star Wars game of all time. So a third chapter is very likely.

For those of you who might have been disappointed in the original game, the demo for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is scheduled to hit the PlayStation Network next Tuesday. Give it a try. Or in the mean time, you could always check out our hands-on impressions of the demo.

Starkiller looks to execute his own ‘Order 66’ on Darth Vader and The Empire once Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II arrives in stores on October 26th in the US and October 29th in Europe.
