SOCOM Devs May Be Working on Next Resident Evil

Capcom is on a trend lately of recruiting other developers to steer some of their most popular franchises in new directions. With Blue Castle having helped for Dead Rising 2, and Ninja Theory being named the developer for DmC, could the Resident Evil series be next to receive outside help?

According to a document forwarded to website Kotaku, a new, team-based Resident Evil game is being developed by Slant Six. This developer, as you are most likely aware, is responsible for SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation on the PlayStation 3 as well as Fireteam Bravo 3 and Tactical Strike for the PlayStation Portable. The document goes on to give the codename for this new game, Resident Evil: Raccoon City. Neither Capcom nor Slant Six seem to be confirming or denying the rumor, and given Capcom’s recent moves to more Western developers this isn’t really that big of a stretch as far as rumors are concerned.
