Earlier this month, EA’s latest entry in the NBA Elite franchise was canceled in a surprising move that shocked many basketball fans. You might be one of those who were confused, and if you were wondering why such a bold move was made, EA has your answer.
According to Alan Wilson from EA Sports, the reason for canceling a game far into its development was the following, which Wilson stated during an interview:
“We’re proud that we made the choice to not just put something out there that wasn’t good.”
EA planned to take the genre to the next level with NBA Elite, but for whatever reason it didn’t measure up. Thankfully, Visual Concepts delivered in that regard just a few weeks ago with NBA 2K11, but it would be nice to see more than one series thrive.
