Alan Pritchard, Sega’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, has revealed that the company has plans to revitalize the Dreamcast–but not in the way you might be thinking.
In a recent interview, Pritchard stated that Sega is going to release a Dreamcast Collection that will consist of some of the systems most popular titles. Pritchard stated that “We are looking to bring some of the old Dreamcast games to market digitally and packaged, he added “The titles are still to be announced.” And if you’ve been hearing the rumors swirling of a Dreamcast 2 due to patents that were filed a year ago, he addresses those rumors by saying:
Unless there’s something I don’t know – no one has told me about getting back into the console business.
It’s unclear at this point if this is part of the Dreamcast Reprint Project, or a separate initiative entirely. Either way, the Ultimate Genesis Collection was a big success and Sega plans to recreate that once again.
