Resistance 3 Comes Packing a Brand New Engine

In the last week, we’ve seen a Resistance 3 blow out. From a batch of new screens, to details about it being fully playable, to a trailer and a release date being shown at the Video Game Awards. Today, we get another interesting tidbit about the game.

Resistance 1 was a very impressive game, but many people felt the graphics were a little underwhelming. Then Resistance 2 came out and, although it appeared better, with a more massive scale, it still wasn’t up to par with other games in the genera. Now, with the latest trailer for Resistance 3 being shown, many gamers have asked, “is Resistance 3 running on a brand new engine, or simply a modified version of the Resistance 2 engine”.

On the PSBlog James Stevenson, Senior Community Manager at Insomniac Games, had this to say when he was asked that very question:

The is the latest version of the Insomniac engine

Short and sweet, but to the point. Insomniac has always been praised with how great the Ratchet and Clank games have looked on the PS3, but have been bashed on the Resistance games. So it should be interesting to see if this new engine can give the type of quality gamers have come to expect from them.

As we approach that September 6th release date, we will keep bringing you all the new details.
