One of the biggest features Media Molecule raved about when the original LittleBigPlanet was announced, was not only the ability to create levels, but also the ability to go online, and play all the user-created levels with friends. When LittleBigPlanet finally hit the market though, the online was plagued by horrible lag, and connection issues. Eventually these were all fixed, so when LittleBigPlanet 2 was announced, most gamers felt like Media Molecule had learned their lesson, and wouldn’t make the same mistakes. Unfortunately, it looks like that is only slightly true.
Since LittleBigPlanet 2 was released earlier this week, gamers have run into an online issue yet again. When trying to play with friends, you are met with an infinite load screen. It seems that when you try to join up with friends, or random people online, it is nearly impossible to play any levels. You are either met by an extremely long loading screen while trying to enter their pod, or when you go into the level. Either way, most of the time you are left there for well over 10 minute.
Thankfully, Media Molecule finally addressed this issue on their Twitter page today:
Found an issue causing some of the freezes being reported and should be able to alleviate the pain a bit!
So it looks like we will be seeing a patch sometime in the next few days. In the meantime, Joystiq is reporting on a temporary workaround. When you are faced with the infinite loading screen, simply turning off your controller is supposed to allow the level to load quicker. When we turned off the controller during the loading screen, we were taken to the level within 10 seconds. We only tried this a few times, so this could be a coincidence. If anyone else has tried this out, please let us know in the comments.
Hopefully we will see a patch at the beginning of the week, but until than this workaround will have to do.
