Mortal Kombat Already Planning Post Release DLC

With just over three weeks until Mortal Kombat hits store shelves, Netherrealm has surprisingly been able to keep the majority of the roster a secret. And even though gamers haven’t even had the chance to complain about who is missing, that hasn’t stopped them from revealing who will be added post launch.

In a conversation with CVG, Netherrealm’s, Hans Lo, announced that Kenshi, and “Scarlet,” would be released later as DLC. Those familiar with Mortal Kombat should already know who Kenshi is, but you may not know who Scarlet is. Scarlet is a character based off a glitch from old Mortal Kombat arcade machines which turned Jade, Kitana and Milena blood-red.

Hans Lo had this to say about Scarlet:

People always thought it was a hidden unlockable character and it wasn’t, it was purely a programming glitch.

She’s no longer a glitch – she’s an actual character, and she’ll be coming pretty soon post-launch.

This is a pretty smart move by Netherrealms, to take something that was originally an error, and turn it into profit. That being said, do you see yourself purchasing these characters right after launch?

Mortal Kombat hits store shelves April 19th in the US and April 21st in Europe.
