One thing is for certain when talking about the SSX franchise, and that’s the insane, unrealistic, but incredibly fun tricks which are stacked to the max throughout it. SSX: Deadly Descents won’t disappoint either, and a new developer diary shows us how.
If you’ve played any previous iteration in the SSX series, then you already know that a key gameplay element in the series is being able to launch off massive jumps in a whirlwind of spins, flips and tricks. Many fans feared from the original launch trailer for SSX: Deadly Descents that the game would be taking a simulation style route, and departing from the arcade style over the top action the series was well known for. Luckily this is not the case, as was confirmed by the first developer diary in a multi-part series released last week, which explained the core elements of the upcoming sequel. Now, the next video in the series has released, and it shows the effort being put forth to ensure the game physics works properly, allowing us to pull big awesome tricks over huge air.
Surely if any doubts remained about whether or not SSX: Deadly Descents will live up to the good name made by its predecessors, this should have put them to rest. It also makes it unfortunate that we'll have to wait until sometime in 2012 to get our hands on the game, since it already looks like a blast. More information will be coming soon though, as the video indicates we'll hear about level design later this month, which should prove very interesting considering the real world locations are being created from scans of real life mountains. Until then, stay tuned to PlayStation LifeStyle for all your PlayStation and SSX news!
