Over the past five days, the PlayStation Network has been offline across the world, with millions of gamers unable to play games online or use many PlayStation Network services, possibly due to an “external intrusion“. After saying on Thursday that the problem could take up to a “full two days” to be resolved, Sony have released another update about the outage.
Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media, Patrick Seybold spoke on the PlayStation Blog:
I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online. Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time.
As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly. We’ll keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience.
Sadly, Seybold’s lack of a timeframe isn’t very promising and Sony’s lack of a full explanation on why the system is down is also rather worrying.
PlayStation LifeStyle will keep you updated on the PSN downtime as it continues.
