Tecmo Koei Squashes Fatal Frame 3 Rumor

Just last week we reported on a rumor that a new Fatal Frame game might be in development for the PlayStation 3. Today Japanese publisher Tecmo Koei have put a boot to the rumor, stating that a new Fatal Frame was not being worked on.

Speaking to Eurogamer this morning, a spokesperson for Tecmo Koei had the following to say about the rumor, which was first reported on Asian gaming website TGBUS:

There is no truth to this. Looking at the titles on that list it looks pretty out of date.

The last game in the horror series was Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse which launched in 2008 on the Nintendo Wii, but never made it out West. As an under-appreciated survival horror game, a Fatal Frame game on the PlayStation 3 sounded like a great idea and even though Tecmo Koei has said no right now, maybe this rumor might get them thinking about bringing it back.
