Kojima Would ‘Love’ to See a New Snatcher

The 1980’s were a wild time. Prince Charles had married a teacher named Diana Spencer, half a million marched in nuclear protest, and a little game named Snatcher was released. This Blade Runner inspired cyberpunk graphic adventure game was created by none other than Konami and, more specifically, Hideo Kojima. Now, more than 20 years after the fact, Snatcher is being mentioned again.

Kojima was recently asked on the PlayStation Blog if the commercial success of a game like L.A. Noire and the return of cyberpunk with Deus Ex: Human Revolution meant there might be a market out there for a game like Snatcher to make its return; to which Kojima replied:

L.A. Noire is a game that I really like, but unfortunately I have not played it. I think it is coming out in Japan today, so when I return, I intend to play it. This idea of an open world in 3D is very good, and I would love to do something like Snatcher, but I do not have the time or the means to do so. But if anyone else would like to develop it, I would love it.

While this is far from any sort of confirmation, the fact that he would love to see it done might inspire someone else to pick it up and run with it. The question is though, how many of you ever got a chance to play the first one?
