Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is suiting up for battle, and will give you a chance to try it out before you decide on devoting your money to joining the fray.
Announced today by THQ, a demo for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine will be arriving on the PlayStation Network next week. Space Marine is very much what it sounds like – a third person shooter pitting players in the battle hardened boots of a space marine within the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Specifically, players will control Captain Titus, who has been charged with the duty of leading a group of Ultramarines against an ork invasion.
Two levels will be available in the demo, the first of which sounds very similar to what I played while at E3 earlier this year. Captain Titus will start outside of an ork munitions facility and work his way in, using six different weapons to bring violent justice to his savage foes. With the chainsword and bolter gun in hand, players will have an opportunity to experience ranged combat as well as gory melee combat. The second level mixes things up a bit by giving Titus a jump pack, which can then be used to rain death onto foes from above, and is a feature that was not available during the E3 preview.
The demo is set to release on August 24th, with the full game following on September 6th. It’s just enough time to try it out and grab a pre-order if you’re a fan of Warhammer 40,000 games, so look for it when the PlayStation Store updates next week.
