A new trailer has arrived for Soul Calibur V, asking us to forge our own destiny as we carve a path through the numerous opponents found within.
17 years after the events of Soul Calibur IV the infamous swords which intertwine the destinies of the series’ combatants have returned, giving reason to enter the ring once more. So far several new characters have been revealed, such as Natsu, Taki’s disciple, and Patroklos, Sophitia’s son. We’ve also heard about and seen few returning characters like Ivy and Siegfried, but this new video gives us a better look at a few more returning fighters. Maxi returns with his classic nunchaku, and Mitsurugi can also briefly be seen. Perhaps most noticeable though is Tira, who returns with a much more ghostly and creepier look than ever.
Beyond the continual trickle of character reveals and brief trailers, little other information has been released for Soul Calibur V. Each iteration of the series has introduced new gameplay mechanics to keep things fresh, with Soul Calibur IV previously introducing the ‘Soul Crush’ abilities, so hopefully we’ll hear about more than just characters soon. In the mean time the game looks as good as ever, and is still slated for release sometime in 2012.
