If the new Mortal Kombat has left you hungering for more klassic arcade action, you’re in luck, since the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection has just been announced.
The new 2011 Mortal Kombat was meant to be a throw back to the series roots, by reintroducing 2D style gameplay along with a large cast of characters from the first three games. However, it’s just not the same as playing the original games themselves, and soon those with this nostalgic craving can find satisfaction on the PlayStation Store. Set to release on August 31st, 2011, the collection with include Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat III, and is the first time these games will be officially packaged together for sale.
The new collection will bring together a host of new features for the classic games, such as leader boards, online play, and trophies/achievements. It’s currently being developed by Other Ocean in conjunction with Neatherrealm Studios, and will also see release on XBLA and PC. The Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will be bringing us three of what are perhaps the most famous fighting games ever, so the low price tag of $9.99 for the entire collection is quite reasonable, and hard to resist. Are you ready to defend Earthrealm once more from Shao Kahn and his minions?
