Bethesda Faces Demons and Finds Unique Power in PS3 Hardware

Due to a history of noticeably unequal versions and timed exclusive DLC, some gamers have been skeptical about the PlayStation 3 version of Bethesda’s upcoming title, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. However, those fears are likely to be translated into positive reinforcement based on Bethesda’s latest interview.

When speaking to IncGamers, Lead Artist Mike Carofano shared his team’s level of understanding with the PS3, which they are confident will translate into a quality version for PlayStation fans. He stated:

This is our third game on PS3 so we’ve got a lot of experience about how that console works and how to make the most out of it.

Best of all, it appears that the Bethesda team knows how to take advantage of the PS3’s unique architecture. Carofano said:

The key is to take advantage of the PS3 in a different way than we would the Xbox 360 or the PC.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 both suffered from a variety of gameplay glitches, framerate issues, and crashing which was further amplified in the PS3 version. It’s been a few years, so hopefully Bethesda has found a way to eliminate the blemishes which tar what are otherwise extraordinary experiences.

Skyrim will release on November 11th, so stay tuned to find out if Bethesda has been able to conquer their demons, otherwise known as the PS3 hardware.
