Less than a month ago, DC Universe Online decided to go free-to-pla. Soon thereafter, it was reported that it had seen a huge influx of over 330,000 new users. However, even more recent reports put those previous numbers to shame.
Sony has sent out a press release stating, that DC Universe Online has seen more than a million new users since it went free-to-play. This is across both PC and the PS3, with the numbers being evenly split between the two.
Lorin Jameson, Executive Director of Development at SOE Austin, had this to say about their free-to-play model:
Our business model philosophy of Free to Play Your Way makes DCUO accessible to every type of player so they can choose to play the game in a way that suits them best. We have a lot of exciting things coming up for players to enjoy in the game and are thrilled at the initial enthusiasm for the game’s free-to-play transition.
