Sony has discontinued Qore, the PSN-based digital magazine that the company had co-produced with Future Publishing, with the final episode having released today.
Launched in 2008, the service aimed to provide not only interviews and previews, but also early access to game demos, beta builds, and menu themes. But while the show was offered on PlayStation Plus, most of the early betas and demos given out were through PS+ rather than on Qore itself, making that aspect of the program increasingly irrelevant. Another possible reason for the series’ discontinuation is the financial trouble publisher Future are in, with a recent swathe of layoffs, losses in the millions and the resignation of its CEO.
It will be a shame to see the series come to an end, but the show does plan to go out with a bang, with the Qore team having added ‘The Qore Ultimate Arcade’, which features a compilation of the 11 mini games offered throughout the series.
