THQ has revealed that they have the exclusive rights to the WWE video game license through 2017.
A rumor posted earlier today by ScrewAttack had suggested that the departures of WWE Games Community Manager Marcus Stephenson and Art Director B. Chambers were possibly indicative that THQ was working on their final WWE game.
However, RipTen reports that they’ve obtained an official comment from THQ about the rumor, who clearly stated that this is not the case:
We are extremely pleased with our relationship with the WWE, and have an exclusive license for the brand through 2017. Our recent videogame cover reveal for WWE ’13 on Monday Night Raw airing May 28, as well as WWE Superstar Sheamus’ recent appearance at E3 showcase examples of how well we are working collaboratively with the WWE.
Furthermore, the report claims that THQ’s response is supported by an SEC filing that shows the extension from the original agreement.
WWE ’13, THQ’s latest entry in their long-running WWE game series, is currently scheduled to release on October 30th for PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii.
