Everyone always says that PlayStation products receive the worst advertisements. I wouldn’t necessarily agree – there’s a big difference between “bad advertising” and “insane head turning marketing.” Although, you might be able to count the latest commercial from PlayStation Japan, as a bittersweet combination of crazy, and just plain terrible.
The advertisement in question features a prominent cameo from the manga and anime icon “Kikaider.” Kikaider is the alternate battle ready form of “Jiro” from the Android Kikaider series where the robot with a conscious battles evil robots to save the world.
Do you think this…..colorful commercial will prove effective? I’m skeptical, but more importantly incredibly out of touch with Japanese sensibilities, and really have no idea how the market will react to this commercial. I’ve gotta give Kikaider bonus points for reminding me of old-school Power Rangers though. What do you think of this quirky commercial? [Via]
