Video game history is filled with absolutely great titles that, for some reason or another, just didn’t sell well enough to warrant a sequel, despite the dedicated fan base screaming for one. Thanks to reader Bayouboyz, we’ll be focusing on some of those games in this week’s Ask PSLS: “Which Video Game, That Never Got a Sequel, Would You Like to See a Sequel to?”
As always, if you have any questions that you’d like us to answer, feel free to put it in the comments below. And as a side note, Psychonauts was banned from being a choice since most of the staff probably would have picked it and that would have been boring.

I’d love to see a sequel to Heavenly Sword, and I’d like it to be on the Vita. Heavenly Sword has a decent following, and could sufficiently fill the void of button-masher on the PS Vita. Especially because I’m a little tired of the God of War franchise. Plus it could draw at least a little buzz to the PS Vita, which badly needs it.
Cameron Teague – Hits it out of the Park (@Cameron_PSLS)
I would like to see a sequel to Valkyria Chronicles and I want it on the PS4. I know that Sega released two games on the PSP after the original, but I refuse to believe those count, and in my head, they are actually a spinoff series in which Valkyria is spelled Vlakyria, but due to poor translation this fact never came out.
I want a proper, console sequel that takes the best of the original and expands on it, with a 4 player co-op online/offline option and the ability to cross save and pick it up on your Vita. That’s right, a PS4/PS Vita title called “The Real Valkyria Chronicles 2, not to be confused with the one on the PSP“. I know it’s a long title but it’s kind of catchy once you say it a few times.
Anthony’s addition to this: “Fuck Yeah!”

I could dig into a massive playlist of games and try to find one, but I’m going to go with the one that came to mind first. I would love to see a sequel to Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. This game was a unique blend of an action-adventure-platformer with stealth and RPG aspects. While the gameplay was a lot of fun, what really stuck out were the environments, the unique world (The Last of Us’ environments immediately reminded me of Enslaved) and the emotional bond between Monkey (played and voiced by the fantastic Andy Serkis) and Trip. I love games that can get emotion right in a digital character and this was one game that reached a particular emotional level with the characters and the overall feel of the post-apocalyptic, robot controlled world. I’d love to see Monkey and Trip return, especially for a next-gen adventure on the PS4.
Dan Oravassari – Can break a mirror by looking at it (@FoolsJoker)
The one game that I know a few people will agree with me about is a sequel to Mirror’s Edge. It was one of the best takes on the first-person perspective I have seen in years, and had enough depth to actually make replay value a personal experience, as your own ability would improve and not just some virtual statistic.
Jason Dunning – Insists Canada is a Real Country (@Jasonad21)
My choice would have to be Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy. Though the odds of this happening are low, it would be great to finally have some resolution to the huge cliffhanger ending the game left us with, essentially making it an incomplete story. Not only that, if it were on the PlayStation Vita, they could use the touch screen/rear touch to control items via telekinesis.
A close second to Psi-Ops would definitely be Skies of Arcadia, and if the rumored HD version does turn out to be true, I’ll be downloading it day one to help improve the odds of a sequel.
Jesse Meikle – Tactical (@Jesse_WM)
I would love to have a true PlayStation Vita sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics. FFT is one of my favorite games of all time, and I’d love to see a cutting edge rendition of Ivalice with Tactic’s addictive strategy RPG gameplay. As far as platform goes, I’d prefer cross-platform with cloud saves, but, if I had to choose a sole platform, I’d prefer to have it on the PS Vita, since Tactics’ turn-based gameplay is perfect for both quick separated bouts of gaming and long dedicated commutes.
Vivas Kaul – Wants to be Heavenly, Ends up Devilish (@VivasKaul)
Playing through Ninja Theory’s reboot of Devil May Cry makes me want a reboot of Heavenly Sword. If they could combine the fast-switching, engaging combat from DmC along with the over-the-top story, and somehow marry those concepts to Heavenly Sword, the result could be something really special.
Sebastian Moss – Whale Hunter (@SebMoss)
Assassin’s Creed. When I first saw that game, I fell in love with the idea of a series that could be anywhere and anywhen, forcing the developer to create something new every time. I knew it would mean innovation, change and require a long break between games as they build everything from the ground up. That game should get a sequel.

Due to some unexpected server issues yesterday, we decided to delay Ask PSLS until today.
