Sony XDev Europe Teases “Fantastic Announcements” at gamescom, Shahid Ahmad Talks PS4 Development Dream

If you’re not already excited for gamescom, it’s time to start getting titillated.

Sony XDev Europe tweeted:

Looking forward to Gamescom in 2 weeks and some of the fantastic announcements we have and working with @PlayStationEU @PSAccess

Sony XDev works with independent development studios, with the games published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Previous XDev collaborations includes ones with Quantic Dream, Relentless Software and Sumo Digital. Sumo Digital of course is heavily rumored to be working on LittleBigPlanet 3, but here’s what we know about all the other unannounced PS4 exclusives.

Sony’s development site states:

XDev has built up an enviable track record of innovation and new IP generation, winning three BAFTA awards for “Buzz”, Develop Industry Excellence Awards for Best New IP twice with “MotorStorm” and “Buzz”, and in North America, winning eight awards from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) with “LittleBigPlanet” and its developer Media Molecule.

Meanwhile, in other gamescom news, superannuation tweeted:

I guess something that was supposed to be announced at E3 2012 might be announced at Gamescom.

I wouldn’t get very excited about it.

And in other PlayStation news, SCEE’s Shahid Ahmad has posted:

Just under a year ago, I brazenly claimed I wanted to make Vita a natural home for indie devs. Well, I’m about to say something else insane.

OK, but I qualify this by saying this is my personal dream, not a corporate manifesto, OK? So don’t sue me. Purely personal….

My dream is that one day, it becomes easier overall for developers to make, test, release and support a PS4 game than a PC game.

As well as teasing for the Vita:

We have scores of [Vita] titles coming out, Vita definitely gets love 🙂

Sony’s gamescom conference is at 7pm CET / 6pm BST on Tuesday, August 20th.
