Editor’s Letter is a series of ongoing articles on the state of PSLS, its future and the future of the industry as a whole.
The last few months have been crazy. In late May we celebrated over 20k posts published (we’re at over 21k now), we celebrated our biggest week ever, brought on new staff, and celebrated a year of Daily Reaction. Now, it’s not time for another celebration, but rather a cold, chilling realization. I’ve been working at PSLS for four years. Dear god.
It has been a weird journey – I began as a wide eyed, fresh faced, naive writer, happy to face what lay ahead. Now I’m cynical, angry and fed up, as you probably know from these Editor’s Letters and Daily Reaction. You have witnessed my descent into insanity… or at least the descent so far. But, while I have become increasingly disappointed with the state of this industry, thankfully that doesn’t mean I hate my job.
Not only am I incredibly grateful for my time at PSLS, and the freedom it allows me to literally write whatever I want, no matter who it pisses off, but part of me is still that fresh faced child, hoping that the industry will get better.
I have learned so much, and I will never regret joining the team. Everything that we’ve managed to be is because of our readership.
PSLS’ best years are clearly ahead of it, and I hope to be able to be there every step of the way.
