Rumors of the existence of Half-Life 3 routinely appear as fans of one of the best franchises in gaming desperately await news on the franchise that hasn’t seen a new release since 2007. Unfortunately, most of those rumors turn out to be untrue, but this time we finally have a glimmer of hope. Maybe.
Valve has filed a trademark for Half-Life 3 in Europe, with the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, the European Union’s trademark and designs registry. The trademark covers “computer game software”, “downloadable computer game software via a global computer network and wireless devices” and other goods and services.
Of course, it’s not unknown for Valve to play with fans’ emotions, and it could be a troll or simply a move to protect their IP.
What do you think? Should we get our hopes up, or give up already? Let us know in the comments below.
