Capcom has updated their sales data for all of their franchises, revealing that Resident Evil 5 has become their biggest selling game with 6.5 million copies. It is then followed by Street Fighter II at 6.3 million and Resident Evil 6 at 5.2 million.
Here’s a quick rundown of their top selling titles as of September 30th, 2013:
- Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360, Digital) – 6.5 million
- Street Fighter II (SNES) – 6.3 million
- Resident Evil 6 (PS3, Xbox 360, Digital) – 5.2 million
- Resident Evil 2 (PS1) – 4.960 million
- Monster Hunter Freedom 3 (PSP, Digital) – 4.8 million
- Street Fighter II Turbo (SNES) – 4.1 million
- Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP, Digital) – 3.6 million
- Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PS1) – 3.5 million
- Street Fighter IV (PS3, Xbox 360, Digital) – 3.3 million
- Monster Hunter 4 (3DS, Digital) – 2.8 million
- Devil May Cry 4 (PS3, Xbox 360, Digital) – 2.8 million
- Resident Evil (PS1) – 2.75 million
- Dead Rising 2 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Digital) – 2.7 million
- Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (PSP) – 2.4 million
- Dino Crisis (PS1) – 2.4 million
- Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (PS3, Xbox 360, Digital) – 2.3 million
- Resident Evil 4 (PS2) – 2.3 million
Since Capcom split up Resident Evil 4, RE4 on Wii added another 1.9 million and RE4 on GameCube added 1.6 million, meaning that it sold a combined 5.8 million.
Looking at their biggest franchises, Resident Evil is #1 at 60 million (86 titles), Street Fighter is #2 with 35 million (77 titles), and Mega Man is #3 with 30 million (131 titles).
