Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster PS Vita Version Dated & Detailed, PS3 Collector’s Edition Revealed

It’s a busy day for the Final Fantasy X.X-2 HD Remaster as the PlayStation Vita version of the game was given a release date of March 18th in North America and March 21st in Europe, the same day as the PS3 version.

Just like on PS3, this will cost $39.99/£29.99 at retail, but when you buy the game on PS Vita, you’ll receive Final Fantasy X HD on a game card, with Final Fantasy X-2 HD given to you as a download code. In addition, you can buy the HD Remaster through the PlayStation Store for $39.99 on PS3 or PS Vita, but as Square Enix Senior Product Manager Sakura Minamida puts it, “The [games] cannot be purchased separately. Regardless of what platform (PS3, Vita, PSN) you will get both game for the price of $39.99.” Sakura later added that they have no plans to sell the games separately.

While there will be Cross Saves between the two versions, Cross Buy won’t be included, and Minamida has “no information” on a possible PS3 and PS Vita combo pack.

For some more information, Square Enix Community Manager Lee Williams answered some questions on the PS Blog:

  • Lee couldn’t confirm if there would be the option for the original Japanese voices “as it’s decided on a game by game basis.”
  • The PS3 Collector’s Edition (see below) won’t be coming to Europe.
  • The PS3 and PS Vita versions share the same trophy list, meaning “you’ll only be able to get two platinum trophies max.”
  • “The RRP in Euros is €39.99 for both digital and physical versions.”
  • “The game will feature English language voice acting and German/French/Italian/Spanish subtitles, which can be turned off in the game menus.”
  • “There are English subtitles available for the game, you would just need to change the system language on your PS3/PS Vita.”

For that PS3 Collector’s Edition in North America, it will be a Square Enix Online Store exclusive and retails for $79.99. Here’s the description:

Enclosed within a hardcover artbook that comprises the PlayStation 3 system version of the game, the Collector’s Edition features 40 pages of imagery from the stunning world of Spira. Alongside five lithographs of iconic artwork and characters, the packaging will also include a Final Fantasy X HD Remaster Original Soundtrack – with more than six hours of music set to the game’s most memorable moments on a Blu-ray Disc.
