After leaving Tecmo over five years ago, Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki formed Valhalla Game Studios with other members of Team Ninja.
The studio then announced Devil’s Third, with THQ as the publisher, but was dropped due to THQ’s financial difficulties. Korean developer Doobic Game Studios stepped in to pick up the publishing slack, but we soon stopped hearing about the progress of the game.
Thankfully, it’s still alive.
Talking to 4Gamer, translated by Siliconera, Itagaki revealed:
Next year will be the year we’ll be releasing the console game, Devil’s Third. At the moment, it is about 80% complete, and we can about see the end of it. However, there’s still a little more polishing that needs to be done. That’s also one of the reasons I’ve decided to work independently.
For you fans out there, I’d like to apologize for making you worry. We’ll be going all out next year, so please look forward to it.
Devil’s Third is set to hit PS3 and Xbox 360, as well as possibly PCs and tablets, some time in 2014.
