With our invitation to CES 2014 having been lost in the mail, we missed out on seeing Sony announce the newly updated PS4 sales figures of 4.2 million and PlayStation Now live and in person.
Now that PlayStation Now is a reality though, people are beginning to get their hands on the service, which will start a closed beta later this month. One such person is Chris Welch of The Verge, who managed to try it out on a Bravia HDTV, with the demo featuring The Last of Us, God of War: Ascension, Beyond: Two Souls, and Puppeteer.
The most important details of the early hands-on include the loading time of God of War: Ascension leaving “a bit to be desired,” but played smoothly once it was up and running. Welch also noted how there is noticeable lag between button presses on the controller and the action on-screen, though he says it wasn’t a problem when it came to killing enemies.
Moving to The Last of Us, he noticed the graphics weren’t “on par with what you’d get from a PS3,” with Sony saying that everything depends on your bandwidth. On that note, PlayStation Now performs a connection check upon booting up and will warn you if your connection speed will cause some issues.
If your PlayStation Now experience depends on bandwidth, how do you think the games will look for you? Let us know in the comments below.
