In an interview with Eurogamer, 2K producer Denby Grace talked about plans for post launch content for Turtle Rock Studio’s upcoming new IP, Evolve, saying, “We have a long-term content plan, much like 2K had with Borderlands – I think that’s a great example of giving gamers what they want.” The comparison to Borderlands should be a good thing, given just how much content Gearbox has pumped out for their games. However, the type of content may differ from Borderlands as Evolve‘s DLC will likely include new maps, monsters, and hunters given its multiplayer focus.
Speaking of Evolve‘s DLC, Turtle Rock Studios co-founder Chris Ashton spoke with VideoGamer.com and discussed the studio’s plans to not have the DLC split the community.
“We’re hyper-focused on making sure we never split up our community,” he said. “So, for example, if we do release new hunters or a new monster, say you buy that new monster, as DLC, you can still play against me, I don’t have that monster, but I get to fight against that monster, right? And if you beat me with that monster, I’m probably going to want to buy that monster for myself so I can get the chance to play it.”
A similar philosophy will be applied to new maps.
“We’ll never split up maps and make you pay for those separate, because that’s going to break the group,” he continues, “that’s going to break the community up into pieces, so we don’t want to do that, we want to keep everybody together.”
Ashton also mentioned that the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game are running “pretty close” and that “performance-wise it’ll be the same.”
Evolve launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 21. Are you excited for it? Let us know in the comments.
