In a rather surprising turn of events, mega online retailer Amazon has just acquired streaming platform, Twitch. While earlier reports pointed at Google to be the buyer, it seems Amazon’s $970 million offer was enough for Twitch CEO Emmett Shear to agree to a buyout.
Over on Twitch’s official site, Shear left a rather lengthy message thanking the Twitch community and confirming the acquisition.
