Japan’s PlayStation Game Releases December 2014 – Guilty, Squishy, and Always Above the Law

Here are the month’s hottest games that have been released or will be releasing in Japan for Sony’s PS3, PS4, PSP, and Vita.

The month began with a splash, as the first release day (Dec. 4) sent out a trio of big games shared by the PS3 and PS4: Guilty Gear Xrd Sign (pictured in the banner above), the dubbed version of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (of which the subtitled version already saw great sales), and LittleBigPlanet 3.

PS4 finally got its own version of Puyo-Puyo Tetris, which is nice, but it’s a little late to the party, since Wii-U, PS3, 3DS, and Vita already got their own versions in the spring.

PS4 also got The Crew; while Vita got its port of Borderlands 2, Sengoku Musou Chronicle 3, and a new Diabolic Lovers visual novel. Even PSP got in on the action with the release of Black Snow Princess, a love adventure.

The next round of releases, on Dec. 11, launched the “complete edition” of Need for Speed Rivals, as well as a new Nobunaga’s Ambition, and the new-gen upgrade of Grand Theft Auto V, all on PS4.

PS3 meanwhile got JRPG Shining Resonance, anime-style boxing game Hajime no Ippo, a Greatest Hits version of Yakuza 1&2 HD, and Assassin’s Creed Rogue.  Vita got Senkyouku Hime 5 and Earth Defense Force 2 Portable V2. PSP and Vita shared visual novel Le Eden De La Grisaia.

The 17th is a rare Wednesday release, set aside for the PS3/PS4 Nobunaga’s Ambition Online New Chapter, available for 13,800 yen (roughly $120).

On December 18, Gundam Breaker 2 hits Vita and PS3 while PS4 sits and wonders when it will get some Gundam love. PS3 also gets Godzilla and Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth  V Century, because we needed that title to make less sense. PS4 gets a love adventure on that day, That Girl Can’t Leave Me Alone.

The final release day of the year is Christmas Day, Dec. 25. PS4 gets Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Shadow of Mordor, while Vita gets a new action game in the universe of The Irregular at Magic High School, some characters from which appear in Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax.

And those are Japan’s PlayStation releases for the month of December! Happy gaming!
