It’s day two of PlayStation LifeStyle’s week-long best of 2014 awards where we name the best of the best.
In yesterday’s awards post, we named the best action, best PSN/indie, best soundtrack and the top Japanese game you need to import. For today, we’re handing out a ton more such as the best horror game, the best remaster for 2014 and lots more.
Again, all games nominated and winners have been voted on by the staff, with the most votes for each title winning in its corresponding category.
So, without further ado, here are today’s categories and winners.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One era is certainly off to an intriguing start, as it has now necessitated a new category for all the remastered games released and coming out in the future.
Rather than lumping each remaster in its specific genre, we thought it best to just group all the remakes in one category and pick from the lot.
What game scared us the most in 2014? Read on to find out.

The Last of Us Remastered
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Developer: Naughty Dog
"Speaking to those who have already played the PS3 version, if you really loved it back then, I would suggest getting this version for PS4 too. It has a lot of extras and it looks really beautiful with the 1080p, higher frame rate, and updated graphics and character models. To those who are interested in diving into The Last of Us for the first time, what are you waiting for?!? The Last of Us Remastered is just a perfect game made even more perfect."

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster
Publisher: Square Enix
Developer: Square Enix, Virtuos
"HD visuals aside, revisiting Final Fantasy X and X-2 is a great thing that should not be missed. Bring in the fact the the HD visuals look nothing short of stunning more than a decade after the game’s original release, and you’ll find that Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster is yet another reason to keep your PS3 running."

Metro Redux
Publisher: Deep Silver
Developer: 4A Games
"Overall my time with Metro Redux was enjoyable. Metro 2033 does feel like it was the first attempt at creating something special, and it almost got there. Metro Last Light is easily the full realization of the story and is an overall more enjoyable experience."

The Last of Us Remastered
The Last of Us took an already epic and finished product and somehow made it even better and worth a second look by people who played it already on PS3. One of the best experiences found on the PlayStation 4, remaster or not.
