In our final awards post before we name our 2014 Game of the Year, we sort out the remaining categories which include the best PlayStation Vita game, best shooter, best RPG, best adventure game and best online experience.
However, we’re not stopping there. We’ve also named the most disappointing and even the most standout video game personality of the year, too!
As always, each and every winner has been voted on by the staff, with the most votes getting the nod.
Make sure to check out yesterday’s awards post where we named our picks for best horror game, best remaster, and more.
While some people love to declare the PS Vita as a “dead” console, that’s not the same sentiment shared by PSLS’ staff. Yep, a lot of us love our little portable that could and here are the games released in 2014 that stood out from the pack.
Which game nabbed the best adventure crown in 2014? Read on to find out.

Minecraft: Vita Edition

"There is not much more that can be said that hasn’t already been said about Minecraft. It’s amazing. If you haven’t already, go pick it up and get to playing. Minecraft: Vita Edition is yet another fantastic port of Minecraft, and yet another top-notch game you can add to the Vita’s library."

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment
Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment
Developer: Bandai Namco Entertainment
"Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment is one of those games that sucks you in from the beginning and never lets go. I often find it hard to stay on my Vita for over an hour at a time, but with Hollow Fragment I would look up and realize I had just spent 2 -3 hours in a single sitting."

Publisher: Square Enix
Developer: Square Enix, Virtuos

Freedom Wars
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Developer: SCE Japan Studio

However, the gameplay itself is good enough to lift its quality above average. For a consumer base so hungry for unique exclusives as my fellow PS Vita owners, Freedom Wars is a welcome addition to the system’s library."

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

Developer: Spike Chunsoft
"Danganronpa 2 is a masterful piece of dark mystery storytelling, with a focus on exploring morally ambiguous facets of the psyche. Each trial will drive you to the realization that despair and hope are not divergent paths, but rather a single path that shares this duality. Who can you trust?"
