February 2015 Must-Play Gallery
February 2015 Must-Play Gallery
Ready at Dawn's cinematic beauty released last month, but there were a number of other games that we think you ought to be playing as well. Here are the must-play titles from February.
Apotheon
As one of the free PlayStation Plus titles in February, this is a game that many epople probably have, but that most may have overlooked. It's definitely worth taking another look though, because this is God of War meets Metroidvania, and we can't get enough.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse
Accurately capturing the fast-paced and all over the place feel of the anime, Dragon Ball Xenoverse is every Dragon Ball fan's dream of a game. Read our full review here.
"Fans of the series will find a great deal of content to keep them entrenched into the world of Dragon Ball , anyone who hasn’t had a history with the seasoned mechanics will undoubtedly find themselves button mashing their way through the confusion and hoping for the best until things make sense."
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round
This is one of the most full and complete DOA 5 that you can have, and we actually were kept interested in the gameplay despite the stigma of being a fighter so well known for how much it shows off of the women. Read our full review here.
"Its updated visuals, huge character list, and numerous costumes set it apart from previous versions of DOA 5 , and the fun and interactive environments really kept me interested in the core gameplay."
Evolve
Evolve is a fickle beast. On the one hand, the mass DLC is a huge turn off to a lot of people, and on the other, those who are playing it are having a blast with it. We think it's worth giving a shot. Read our full review here.
"While the lack of a real story mode may upset some, most people who purchase this game are doing so for the multiplayer, plain and simple. On that front, Evolve impresses when things go as planned."
Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires
So the AI may not be the best, and the Warriors series may be wearing a bit thin, but we enjoyed the strategic political decisions that you had to make, and had fun customizing our characters. Read our full review here.
"Because of the vast number of customizations one can make to their character, and the numerous strategic and political decisions to be made, the game ends up being not bad in the end."
Hand of Fate
A fresh blend of classic gaming that requires the use of your imagination to enjoy and repeatedly punishes the player with bad luck, we were excited to try and try again until we ran into a streak of good luck, even if it was just scraping by. Read our full review here.
"Hand of Fate may not be that game that is shoving the visuals and story down your throat, but Defiant Development is allowing my imagination to be a part of their development team in order to help craft my own tales of failure, success, and luck."
The February 2015 Game of the Month is...
The PSLS staff voted, and among all the games in February, our choice for Game of the Month in February is...
The Order: 1886
Despite the mixed reviews about length, cinematics, and whatever other problems people may cite with The Order: 1886 , we loved our time with the game, from the visuals, to the masterful cinematic presentation, to the premise. It may not be the most lasting PS4 experience, but it is still one that is well worth having. Read our full review here.
"The decision will need to be where each player places value in their video games. This is an immersive game for people who want to sit back — or on the edge of their seat — and let themselves become engrossed in the story of a Knight in turmoil fighting against a supernatural force."
