PS4 Firmware Update 2.50 Reportedly Includes Full DualShock 4 Button Remapping Option

We recently heard that Sony will be running a System Software Beta Testing Program on the PlayStation 4, giving people a chance to try out new system features prior to release. Well, it didn’t take long for some of the features to leak out.

The long-awaited suspend/rest mode is apparently one of the main features of update 2.50 as revealed by the image below, which states:

“The system can now enter rest mode without closing any applications. You can adjust this setting in [Power Save Settings] > [Set Functions Available in Rest Mode].”

In addition to this, images and information floating on the web suggest that users will be able to fully customize DualShock 4’s buttons.

According to a post on NeoGAF:

“New Accessibility feature allows full button remapping of DS4!”

“Analogue sticks [L and R] are listed, but we don’t know what they can be switched into.”

As previously reported, Twitter user Wario64 has also revealed that players will be able to delete Trophy entries for games in which they haven’t unlocked any trophies. Last but not least, there are also reports of Share Play supporting 60fps.

When several websites contacted Sony for comment, a spokesperson for the company said:

“The next PS4 system software update will be released soon, and its features are currently being processed for quality assurance. We will have more information on the update to share shortly.”

We’re guessing it won’t be too long before everything is confirmed in writing.

Which one of these features are our readers looking forward to most?
