Part of Loot Interactive’s line-up of PlayStation games, Velocibox is releasing today on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, complete with cross-buy. Priced at $9.99 regularly and $7.99 for PlayStation Plus members, you’ll also find a game and PS4 theme bundle for $12.99 (regular)/$9.99 (PS+).
Developed by Shawn Beck Games, Velocibox runs at 1080p/60fps and is described as a “merciless endless runner game” that tasks you with guiding a moving box through an obstacle course, using wide-angle field of view and fisheye camera angles to survey the action.
While you’ll learn new skills and maneuvers along the way, the description warns of big challenges:
However, in Velocibox, players will quickly learn that their task is anything but easy, since the obstacle courses gets increasingly tough over time, putting every learned skill, every last bit of muscle memory and every nanosecond of players’ reflexes to the test in more than 70 levels, each more diabolical than the last. And for those who can’t get enough of a good thing, the game offers an even steeper challenge with Super Velocibox mode.
This special PlayStation edition of Velocibox features:
- Cross-save and trophy unlocks for PS4 and Vita
- Level selection screen with saved progress
- Unique light bar functionality
- Activity feed and PlayStation-specific leaderboards
- Exclusive PlayStation controller audio effects
Velocibox doesn’t include a Platinum Trophy, but as Jason Sorensen of Loot explains, getting the one Gold Trophy won’t be easy:
If self-punishment is what you’re into (no judging here), than we dare you to try your hand at what might be one of the most difficult Gold Trophies in the history of PlayStation: in Ranked mode, successfully make it through levels one through nine… in a single run.
To give some idea of just how ridiculously hard that Trophy is: in all the months of developing and testing this game, we’ve only see one person even come close to making it through.
Will you be getting Velocibox today?
