Potentially just a mistake by the PlayStation Store team in North America, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for PlayStation 4 is listed as free for PlayStation Plus members in the Deals & Offers section.
Spotted by members on NeoGAF and Reddit, and confirmed by us, the listing shows the original price of $29.99 USD/$39.99 CAD scratched out and replaced by ‘Free’ for both PS+ members and non-PS+ members. When you click on the icon though, the 50% off sale price for Black Flag in the Assassin’s Creed sale running until September 29 shows up instead.
Since Black Flag shows up as free for everybody in the ad, it’s likely it could be a mistake, or it could be hinting at a potential inclusion in October’s Instant Game Collection, which would make sense given that Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is out on October 23.
Black Flag has also been offered as a free game for Xbox One owners as part of their Games With Gold service.
We’ve reached out to Sony to see if this is a mistake and we’ll update you if we hear anything back.
