The PlayStation LifeStyle “Best of 2015 Game Awards” keep on trucking along! Yesterday we announced the best racing game of 2015, a hot pursuit with four fantastic nominees battling hard for first place. Today we’ll be naming the best music game of 2015.
While the rhythm game genre had been quiet for a long while, 2015 was apparently the time to rock out once again, with or without plastic guitars held in a firm grasp. Whatever your music tastes, there was something for everyone. For those about to rock, or dance, we salute you!
Check out the gallery below for our nominees for the best music game of 2015, and of course, the winner, too. In case you’re wondering, the winner is decided by the staff (staff votes) and not just based on the game with the highest review score.
Do you agree with our pick? Which game is your best music title for 2015? Stay tuned tomorrow for another category award!

Persona 4: Dancing All Night
Publisher: Atlus
Developer: Atlus
"As someone who isn’t the biggest fan of rhythm games, I was a bit timid when I first installed the game for review. However, my fears were quickly removed by one of the most intoxicating soundtracks around and possibly one of the greatest cast of characters assembled. Sure, the story wasn’t the best I have seen in a P4 universe, but it was still intriguing enough to push things along at a smooth pace. The gameplay is where things really shined however, as this game is just fun to play, and that’s what you want in a rhythm game. Fans of the series or not, Persona 4: Dancing All Night has all the right moves."

Superbeat: XONiC
Publisher: PM Studios, Atlus & Acttil
Developer: Nurijoy
"Superbeat: XONiC is a solid addition to any Vita fan’s library, even if you’re not a connoisseur of the rhythm genre. The tunes’ over-the-top excursions into sensory overload are a ton of fun, and their brief length makes them ideal for portable gaming. Some of the song selections are questionable at best, and there aren’t a whole lot of modes to choose from — but hey, who needs gimmicks, anyway? This is a pure, visceral rhythm game best played with a limber set of fingers and headphones cranked up to 11."

Guitar Hero Live
Publisher: Activision
Developer: FreeStyleGames
"Guitar Hero Live could get away with only being the GHTV side of things. The catalog of songs is huge. The promise of future updates is tantalizing, and it’s far too easy to get sucked in to playing a show and find yourself playing for hours. And all of this comes without a subscription fee of any kind. You just need to buy the game and the streaming library is at your fingertips. But they’ve also added the offline Live mode, and gone above and beyond in creating an extremely unique way to live out your rockstar fantasies. Add in the brilliant new game mechanics that come from the reconfigured guitar controller, and combining our old love of rhythm games with the modern way we consume music, and Guitar Hero Live is the worthwhile reunion of an old favorite that we’ve all been waiting for."
