It looks like we’ll be getting a double dose of The Banner Saga in early 2016, with the first game scheduled to release on January 12 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and the sequel set for Q1 2016, following its recent delay.
While console gamers will have waited two years for the first Banner Saga, John Watson from developer Stoic told Gamereactor that the wait for The Banner Saga 2 on PS4 and Xbox One should be minimal:
Console builds of The Banner Saga have finally passed cert and are ready for release prior to Banner Saga 2’s launch, which is a relief. We’ve started work on console ports for The Banner Saga 2 with the hope that we can launch them alongside, or soon after, the Steam launch.
Although things are coming together each day for The Banner Saga 2, Watson adds, “There are still a few solid months of work ahead of us.”
Since The Banner Saga 2 is content complete and playable from start to finish, Stoic will soon be working on adding music to the game and making sure it transitions properly.
As we learned earlier this month, development of the PlayStation Vita version of The Banner Saga is being helped along by Sony, with more news coming in 2016.
