Insomniac: “We Came Pretty Far” With a Resistance Movie

In an interview with IGN about the upcoming Ratchet & Clank movie, Insomniac Chief Brand Officer Ryan Schneider revealed that production on a Resistance movie went pretty far:

We came pretty far with Resistance, but what happens is, you have producers get other projects, actors get other projects, priorities change. The fact that [the Ratchet & Clank movie] has been seen through start to finish is pretty exciting.

Although Founder Ted Price suggested that he’d like to see Resistance as the next Insomniac franchise to be made into a movie, unless something’s changed since June 2015, they have “no plans for anything Resistance.”

As for the Ratchet & Clank movie, Chief Creative Officer Brian Hastings said it was an easy decision:

When we actually first started the franchise, our aim with the project was to create a game that feels like a Pixar movie. As a result, we’ve always wanted to see it on a screen, because we felt like it would be a perfect fit. And when you play the latest Ratchet game, it does – it looks like a Pixar movie.

Ratchet & Clank for PlayStation 4 launches on April 12 in North America and April 20 in Europe, with the movie out on April 29. Insomniac also has Song of the Deep coming out this summer on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
