A report by Retail Merchandiser claims that Activision is working on a new Ghostbusters game for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The “full-fledged” game is apparently coming alongside the movie due to release in July 15 this year.
Elsewhere in the report, we’re told that 2009’s Ghostbusters: The Video Game was well-received, leading to Sony’s “renewed interest” in the property. Mark Caplan, Senior Vice President of Sony’s Global Consumer Products, was also quoted in the article:
We launched a licensing program based on the classic property and celebrated the 25th anniversary by launching a successful console video game. It was a great experience for us. It showed there was a tremendous fan base already built in.
Activision hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, but we’ll make sure to update our readers when we have more information.
