SEGA Completes Acquisition of Atlus USA, Will Handle Publishing Duties Going Forward

SEGA of America has announced that it has completed its acquisition of Atlus USA, and will now be handling the company’s publishing duties going forward. Both companies will continue to be identified as individual brands, however, and the change will not affect any products.

Atlus CEO, Naoto Hiraoka, said in a statement:

After nearly a year working under the Sega Games division, both Sega of America and Atlus U.S.A. have thrived and released a combined total of 23 game products. Between Atlus’ ability to localize and release Japanese video game products efficiently and the strength of Sega of America’s reputation as a leading publisher in the industry, the situation could not be more symbiotic for both companies.

SEGA CEO, Tatsuyuki Miyazaki, expressed his confidence in the collaboration and said that it will make the company a “uniquely positioned publisher.” “SEGA of America is entering new age of publishing, and going back to the road to prosperity,” he said.
