With Bethesda announcing a new Prey game during its E3 press conference, some readers might have assumed that it somehow shared connections to Hammerhead’s now-cancelled Prey 2.
Well, Bethesda Vice President of Marketing Pete Hines has now shot down any such notions, as he confirms that aside from aliens, and the fact that you’re being hunted by aliens, not a “single element” of Hammerhead’s game seeped into Arkane’s upcoming action game.
There is not a single element of Prey 2 in [the new Prey], other than aliens running amok and you’re being hunted by aliens.
Hines confirmed that Arkane Studios is starting from the ground up and just taking the franchise’s core concept and building it up to what Prey should be. Hines also confirmed that Prey won’t be an open world game, but it will offer a level of freedom similar to Arkane’s other franchise, Dishonored.
Finally, when asked whether Arkane’s Prey is a horror game, Hines clarified that it’s not, but that it will have a “psychological element to it.”
Prey is confirmed to be out in 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
